Mutual and Segregated Fund Database

Globe Interactive maintains a database on over 6,000 (as of March 2006) Canadian investment funds that is available for license. New data is collected each business day from the fund companies, electronically transmitted into the database, double-checked for data accuracy, and then made available to subscribers in the early evening (approx. 7 PM EST).  

The database contains historical fund prices, distributions and fundamental data on each fund.

(i)         Fund Prices and Distributions: Income and capital gains specified separately. Includes splits and reinvestment prices. Available in Daily, Weekly and Monthly transmissions. For most funds, pricing and distribution data is available since fund inception on a monthly basis.  Daily data is available from October 1997 to the present.  

(ii)        Fundamental Data: Monthly transmissions. The following files are available:  

(a)   Basic – includes ID, name, manager, asset class, total assets, MER, RRSP eligibility;

(b)   Detail – includes fund objective, manager profile, address and telephone number, asset class, minimum investment, top 10 holdings, sector weightings, portfolio composition;

(c)   Statistics – includes performance statistics (compound & calendar rates of return) and MPT statistics (quartile ranking, alpha, beta, r-squared, standard deviation, Treynor, Sharpe ratios).
